Shoojit Sircar's Piku has scored six nominations while Farhan Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do received five nominations. Other notable mentions this year, who are also up for the awards are Badlapur, Talvar and Tanu Weds Manu Returns
"I have done films in the past which were more about women and more soft. So for me, Talvar was completely out of my comfort zone. I was actually scared of doing this as I had to step out of my comfort zone," Meghna Gulzar said
"This is my seventh National Award. I am very happy that this time it's for a film like Talvar, a story which needed to be told. This is my second film alone as a writer. So, it gives me confidence, a boost to write. Initially, when my producer told me about the award, I couldn't believe it," said Vishal Bhardwaj
"Piku and Talvar have been special to me and I am happy that I have been nominated. I am pleased to be a part of them as they are important for me, the film industry and the audience," said Irrfan, who has been nominated for both roles in the upcoming TOIFA awards
