"Despite the court's verdict, we were not sure till the afternoon of June 15 whether our film was going to release on time or not. Things were being thrown at us and we were just responding to it. We went through lots of ups and downs. I really want to leave that behind me and I hope that it never happens to any of my films or anyone's film," said Abhishek Chaubey
"We have cut all derogatory and offensive words/dialogues and anti-Pakistan content from the film. More than 100 cuts, mutes, beeps have been suggested to the film's distributor. Once he will complete the editing as per the requirement of the board, it will again be presented before it for final approval," Mubashir Hasan, the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) head, told PTI.
"After Kaminey, I think I lost the track. So after Haider, I did not want to repeat the same mistake. With due respect to the kind of support and appreciation I received for Haider, I wanted to do better roles. I'm happy I didn't have to wait much and got a chance to perform in Udta Punjab," Shahid said

Alia, who impressed her fans by singing Samjhawan for her 2014 film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, said that she had fun shooting for the new song with her Udta Punjab co-star
Abhishek Chaubey's Udta Punjab stars Shahid as a drug addicted rockstar and Alia as a Bihari migrant. The movie deals with the issue of drug abuse in Punjab and features Kareena Kapoor as a doctor and Diljit Dosanjh as a cop
Aamir Khan said that he'll watch the film in Ludhiana, where he is currently shooting for Dangal. "I am quite excited about the film and eagerly waiting for it. It's a good decision by the Bombay High Court. I will be watching it here because I am shooting now"
"Being from filmmaking background, I came here to support this film to watch it first day first show. Two days ago there was a pirated print floating around. I don't support piracy first of all. I am going to watch this movie and also going to ask all my friends to watch it in theatres only," said a cinegoer on Friday outside a film theatre in Mumbai.
